commodity fetish is based in Los Angeles, CA. We are ALWAYS open for submissions at commodityfetishzine@gmail.com (submission guidelines below.) This project was born from a love of Denis Johnson, Kathy Acker, Frank O'Hara and E.M. Cioran; it was also born from putting all those vintage paperbacks in the little plastic baggies at my used bookstore job.
When I started this zine, at 18 years old, I was mostly writing ideological nonsense. Now, I find it is better to support the nonsense (ideological or not) of my friends/comrades/enemies. Scroll to the bottom to read our features, written by people who I hope will one day be too famous to submit to silly web zines such as this.
Submission Guidelines
- COMMODITY FETISH welcomes short stories and poems less than 2,000 words. Due to formatting constraints in coding, poems with traditional formatting are preferred. I will attempt to battle my computer to accommodate more avant-garde work, but no promises.
- Please address submissions to commodityfetishzine@gmail.com. Subject line should include the title of the piece, and specify prose / poetry. Please include a short, 3rd person bio.
- Up to 2 pieces allowed at a time.
- I cannot pay you money.
- I aim to publish 1-2 times a week. Response time might take a while, but I will always respond to submissions.
- Simultaneous submissions are welcome, and I am open to publishing previously published work -- as long as I like it enough, and you promise I won't get sued by some coke-girl lit mag founded in Williamsburg.
- Write about whatever you want, IDGAF. In fact, I prefer it. Limitless tolerance.
- No clout chasing allowed.
